Biography

Dr. Syed S. Haque is the founding Director of the Graduate degree (MS and PhD) programs in Biomedical Informatics, and Chair of the Department of Health informatics, at the School of Health Related Professions, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now merged with Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey). This was the first graduate degree program on the east of Mississippi river and fourth program in the USA. Since then, under the guidance of Dr. Haque, the Department of Health Informatics has maintained its leadership position in the field of Health and Biomedical Informatics. Dr. Haque is an accomplished informatics educator and researcher. His research and development interests include: Biomedical Informatics education and research, Health care Outcomes measurement and research, healthcare predictive analytics including prediction models and risk analysis, use of data mining techniques and pattern analysis, disease mapping and surveillance systems, development of bioterrorism surveillance & detection system, development of cyber-terrorism security and control for healthcare systems. Dr. Haque has been very frequently invited to deliver keynote addresses, conference presentations, seminars and workshops at both the national and international levels in various countries including USA, India, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt.
