Chris Boone, Vice President, leads client engagements involving real world informatics strategies.Prior to joining Avalere, Chris served as the CEO of the Health Data Consortium (HDC), a public-private partnership working in concert with the public sector agencies, such as the U.S. Chris is a professor in the Masters of Health Informatics program at the University of Cincinnati and serves as a guest lecturer at other universities.Chris holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Tulsa, a M.S. in Healthcare Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, a PhD in Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Dallas, and two executive certificates from the Harvard Kennedy School.In addition, he is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), a certified professional of healthcare information and management systems (CPHIMS), and a project management professional (PMP).

Dr. Tolomiczenko’s experience as a clinician, researcher, teacher and administrator helps him in his Administrative Director role to guide and run the Health, Technology and Engineering program at the University of Southern California (HTE@USC). After an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree at Caltech, he earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Boston University. As both a scientist and clinician working at medical institutions affiliated with Harvard University, his focus shifted to public health and policy issues involving homelessness and mental illness. His Masters in Public Health from Harvard University covered healthcare management and improvement. He then moved home to Toronto, where he earned an M.B.A. to inform his efforts were devoted to creating and funding programs and partnerships enabling disease-focused basic research, knowledge translation and adapting chronic disease models. Since returning to California in 2010, he has served as a CIHR reviewer and committee member for knowledge translation and commercialization. He continues to develop USC’s interdisciplinary collaborative strengths applied to medical device and process innovation. He teaches courses designed to form and train teams linking engineering and medicine to create innovative and licensed technology and start-up companies. In addition to his HTE@USC work, he serves as adjunct faculty on the NSF I-Corps USC Node.

Eduardo J. Simoes, is Chair, Dr. Stuart Wesbury and HMI Alumni Distinguished Professor of the Department of Health Management and Informatics-University of Missouri School of Medicine (2011-current). His medical degree is from Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Pernambuco-Brazil (1976-1981), diploma&master of sciences degree from University Of London School Of Hygiene Tropical Medicine (1986-1987) and master of public health degree from Emory University School of Public Health (1989-1991). He is a fellow of the American College of Epidemiology, reviewer and editor for 12 journals. He published over 100 peer-reviewed publications, eight book chapters and 18 reports. He presented in 150 conferences.

He is an advocate of incorporating Internet and mHealth behavior change resources into the practice of integrated behavioral health.

Marie-Pierre Gagnon, PhD, is Full Professor at the Faculty of Nursing at Laval, University and researcher at the Quebec University Hospital Centre. Since 2012, she holds the Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Technologies and Practices in Health. Her research program focuses on the evaluation of information and communication technologies (ICT) for health, organizational and individual determinants of ICT adoption and integration in the healthcare system, patient and public involvement in healthcare decisions, systematic reviews and best practices in knowledge translation and application.

Joseph Tan, PhD, formerly Wayne C Fox Chair of eBusiness Innovation, and currently, Professor of eHealth Informatics, DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, is the founding and ongoing Editor-in-Chief, International Journal of Healthcare Information Systems & Informatics with a professional background that spans a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary research area. A lead investigator in redefining the frontiers of multidisciplinary Business and Health IT knowledge development, management and expansion, including active involvement in collaborative research and multidisciplinary joint-grant submissions, Dr. Tan has demonstrated skills and ability to serve in both academia and industry. Dr. Powell completed her Ph.D at the Ohio State University in 1992. She is an assistant research professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at OSU and the director of Small Animal Imaging for the University. Dr. Powell is an imaging scientist who has extensive research experience in microscopy, small animal, and clinical imaging and image analysis. She has published more than 50 papers in reputed journals.

Yuh-Fong Hong is an assistant professor of School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Hong’s expertise includes health care quality improvement using health information technology (HIT) and applied health informatics. He leads the integration of applied informatics in nursing programs. Dr. Hong is selected to serve on the interprofessional education program team to facilitate collaboration on the EHR usage at the university level. Dr. Hong presents his teaching and research findings at national and international professional conferences.

Dr. Freimuth works at the interface of biomedical informatics and clinical genomics developing computational methods, tools and infrastructure that facilitate the translation of genomic data to clinical practice. Currently, his focus is on developing standards-based knowledge representation schemas for the pharmacogenomic domain, including gene-drug interactions and clinical recommendations that could be used as part of decision support algorithms. Dr. Freimuth is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics in the Department of Health Sciences Research, Mayo Clinic (Rochester). He is a member of several research networks, including the Pharmacogenomics Research Network (PGRN), Electronic Medical Records and Genomics (eMERGE), and Clinical Genome Resource (ClinGen). Dr. Russell Gann is working in support of the National Guard Health Affairs, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Gann spent three years at the Ministry of Health, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as the Project Manager for healthcare informatics in the surveillance of infectious disease, chronic disease and infection control in an effort to build the Saudi Centers for Disease Control and National Laboratory. Dr. Gann worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where he was the Program Manager and principle architect for surveillance applications to include the following: BioSense – National syndromic surveillance of the US for infectious diseases.

Dr. Yu is currently a research assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University. Dr. Yu is also the high-dimensional group leader at the Center for Biostatistics, where he collaborates with investigators from College of Medicine and the Comprehensive Cancer Center and serves as the biostatistics core director for multiple NCI program project grant awards and applications. Dr. Yu’s research focus is to answer genomic based biological questions by utilizing high-throughput genomic data. He is currently interested in (1) variance smoothing for testing differential expression in NGS data, (2) sample size calculation for NGS data, (3) data integration of multiple genotypes and multiple platforms, (4) prediction models with biomarkers.

Dr. Arcady Putilov received his PhDs (candidate and doctor of science) from the Institute of Physiology (Novosibirsk) and the Siberian Medical University (Tomsk), He’s a research group leader at the Institute for Molecular Biology and Biophysics (Novosibirsk). He’s experienced in study of rhythmic processes in physiology, biochemistry, zoology, ecology, psychology, psychiatry, and history. His other research interests include sleep regulation, personality, individual differences, evolutionary psychology, and history. He authored several hundred scientific publications including books and articles in peer reviewed international journals. He also writes for the general public about sleep, biological rhythms, mood disorders, psychology, and history of science.

Dr. Chuang earned her PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of Pittsburgh. As a Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, her research contributed to an understanding of the neuroprotective biomarkers, neuro-immune responses and pathophysiological mechanisms in the brain.
